If you have a teenager in your home (or you think you do) you know what I’m talking about….
After a long, hard day you clean the kitchen after dinner. The dishwasher is humming. The leftovers are safely tucked away in the refrigerator. The counters shine and the sink sparkles. Passing through the kitchen on your way to bed you smile and admire your handy work. And then, you wake up in the morning and you find this…
Or, after dropping your two youngest off at school and running errands all morning you come back to the house, hoping to enjoy a few minutes of peace before school is out and a whole new set of chores will be begging your attention. And you find this blocking your way…
And then, of course, there are the times when you find little notes like this one on your kitchen table…
Yep. That’s when you know you have a teenager in the house. And I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Teenagers are such a delightful species! And they seriously do grow into people! My two are just out of their teens, and I can so relate to your tales of the elusiveness and the wonderful, effusive love!

Ah, the teenager is, indeed, a wily and elusive beast. We have one that invades us on weekends, and leaves similar signs.

At least your kid’s dishes make it to the kitchen, and dirty clothes to the laundry room…I go around collecting ours from the family room and other locales…

So like our home right now. Just love those big kiddos. And my irritation disappears when a big hug is given. I know they will be gone so soon. We are blessed right now for an sweet interlude with one son being home for a short season. He and his college aged brother are quite the pair. Add in preteens and we have a hopping place! Love it!!!

Oh, she’s beautiful! And, the sightings? Definitely, !!! worthy. I just tripped on some evidence of our elusive teenager myself.
What a beautiful girl! I can totally relate. My 14 yo took care of his brothers last night and there are things strewn everywhere. But, they are also a joy.

I know they can be such !!! but the pay off is thoughtful conversation, making you laugh even when you don’t want to and being a long long way from the bane of my existence car seats, and strollers )
I’ve learned that it’s about the same when they’re adults and come home to visit. Except they don’t ask for money, but the mysterious late-night-kitchen-invasions and dirty clothes all over the bedrooms. Or on the washer “just in case you’ve got something you want to wash, Mom”. Yep. But they hug and they smile, and they takes care of it all!
I guess we’ve all been there. It wasn’t until I started to live by myself that I truly realised how much my Mum had done for me. I mean, she would remind me that she was nothing more than a slave – and sometimes even roll off a list of things she did – and all of that before going to work every morning and then evening too!
Supermom springs to mind – for my Mum and for all mums out there!
