Sometimes It’s The Simple !!! That Warms My Soul

Sometimes it’s the simple !!! that warms my soul. And this past week was no exception!

There is nothing. No thing.  Like a freshly made bed.

Or, making Rocky Road Fudge and there is no one around to lick the bowl but ME!

I always smile when I find evidence of my son’s inherited OCD when it comes to eating candy. He sorts just about everything he gets his hands on. And I eat my candy by color, too!

Who can resist this handsome scooter dude getting ready for the neighborhood 4th of July parade? Not me!!!

  1. I too am warmed by a freshly made bed. Especially when it is piled with freshly fluffed pillows…

Have a !!! kind of day! I am going to try to.

  2. I’m pretty sure I’m remembering this accurately: Jen and I used to sort the M&Ms and we had an aversion for the brown ones. Or, maybe we ate the yellow ones last, giving them preference. Either way I still eat things by color and size. Eating french fries and chips is as much an exercise for the mind as it is for the mouth. And yes, biggest ones get saved for the end.

    🙂

  3. Lovely positive post. Yes a nicely made bed is always a good feeling.

Sometimes at a kids disco I’ll play a game where the kids have to pick a certain coloured sweet while the other kids count backwards from 10 to 1. It’s always a hit!

  4. Lovely pictures. I agree, there really is nothing as nice as fresh linens on a nice comfy bed. Even better would be a “lie in” in one past my daughter’s 5:30am wake up call 🙂

  5. Oh wow, I thought my husband was the only person in the world to sort his candy into colors before eating it! That is hilarious! And he now feels vindicated after I just showed him this post! lol

  6. Due to the logistics of our morning, my husband makes our bed while I’m out walking the dogs. Every morning I come home (all hot and sweaty this time of year) and walk into our room to find a perfectly made bed. It’s one of my life’s true delights!

  7. I just love this post series. So joyful!

  8. I disagree with you about the bed. It is easier to destroy than create. And why bother? I know I’ll just mess it up again tonight. 🙂

I agree complete with the bowl licking, although that usually gets me in trouble.

Eating candy by color is one of the few bullets I was able to dodge. 🙂

Great looking kid! I’ll bet being in the parade was a blast.

Aww! What fun pictures. Love the bed! Also, I sort my candy, too. 🙂

  10. I love the pimped-out scooter! He looks ready for the parade!

  11. I don’t know that I’ve ever sorted my candy by color, but when I was a kid, the food on my dinner plate needed to be kept separate. Not touching. First, I’d eat the vegetables. Then the potatoes. Then the meat. There was an order, which needed to be maintained. Not so much now.

  12. Fun! 🙂

Ahh, a freshly made bed, with crisp, fresh sheets. Love it!

I sometimes separate my candy… but only the bigger ones like Smarties (I used to eat the red ones last, now it’s the blue ones)!

  13. Yeah, it’s almost always the simple that warms my soul. And that bed looks awesome!

  14. Yay for !!!

There’s nothing quite like licking the bowl after making a goodie, is there? I love cookie dough, too. But, shh, that’s a secret!

  15. Love these posts of yours! I never make my bed. Probably have something to do with my mom having been a hotel maid…

  16. The Nerds. Oh, I loved them as a high schooler and still love them now.

  17. Please send some fudge my way! I separate some candy by color, like Skittles. Probably because I don’t like the purple ones. I don’t know that I have the patience to sort Nerds. Kudos to you!

  18. Rocky Road Fudge?! Can I get the recipe so I can lick a bowl of it clean, too?? That looks so !!!

  19. Mmmmm lucky, lucky — no need to share!

I love a freshly made bed too. We’re bad about actually making our bed as frequently as we ought to, but something’s gotta slide when company’s coming at the last minute. Their bed or ours? Well, we should put sheets on their mattress …
