And Now A Word From Our !!! Sponsors

So many things tickled my !!! fancy this week.

First off? CK at Bad Mommy Moments reminded me a few weeks ago (or was it months? Oh. How time flies!) how much I love the smell of freshly washed baby/kid hair with Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. It lowers my blood pressure.  I had a bottle under the sink and I decided to heck with it saying “Baby” on the label. I’ll just sneak it onto my kid’s heads. I did. And they love the smell, too! Now they ask for the “orange shampoo.” A little bit of !!! for my week. Ahhhhhh.

Speaking of showering, I adore Noxzema. The original. In the pump. (Which I can’t find anymore in my local stores so I’m stuck with the cumbersome tub) I’ve tried the fancy stuff at the make-up counters. I’ve tried the not-as-fancy-but-still-more-expensive stuff at the drug stores. But good ol’ fashioned, plain, cheap Noxzema does it for me. Now, if someone can please tell me where I can find the orignal formula in the pump container again, my morning/evening ritual will be complete.

I have a killer banana bread recipe that actually slices like cake. It’s fairly low in sugar and my family loves it. Of course, we usually amp up the sugar content by covering a slice in cream cheese frosting, or like last night, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and then caramel sauce. Mmmmmmm. My over ripe bananas brought the whole family a little extra !!! this week.

Speaking of cooking, I found this cookbook at the library and I’ve been entranced. I enjoy cooking. I like a good cookbook. But The Amish Cook has been such an enjoyable read. Beautiful photography. Homey recipes. Interesting details and stories of Amish life. It’s been the kind of book where I set aside time during the day, get my glass of tea, curl up on the couch and just thumb through the pages, savoring every delicious word. I’ve already renewed it once. And I’m going to renew it again. Then, I’m going to have to buy my own copy.

  1. Hi Jane:

I LOVE the smell of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo…my mom used to use that on me and my brother when we were little. It always brings back pleasant memories (I was sad that my youngest daughter ended up being allergic to it). However, the smell of Noxzema makes me nauseous…I don’t know why…

Banana bread…one of my favourite things! No icing, just a bit of butter…

Will have to look for that cookbook…I’m a bit of a recipe junkie (especially old recipes!).

  2. No !!! from me until you post the banana bread recipe. Hmph.

  3. I am with KW… would love that bananna bread recipe.

Love the J & J goodness. My daughter loves that shampoo

  4. Lovely photos and great !!! this week. But I’m with the Kitchen Witch as I love banana bread but have not yet found a good recipe, so post up that recipe please – I love the idea of cream cheese frosting on it too.

  5. Oooh! I’ve got to find this book now too!

  6. When new little guy was first born, we’d bathe him with “the orange shampoo,” but he wouldn’t retain the scent at all. Right after a bath, he’d smell like stinky (but still yummy, of course) baby again. The day his pores or subcutaneous layer or whatever it was finally regulated itself and let him smell like glorious Johnson and Johnson’s … !!! indeed.

  7. There are those smells that take you back – J & J baby shampoo is one of them. And baby powder. Priceless!

  8. {stomping feet and yelling} Banana Bread! Banana Bread! Banana Bread!!

And does anyone else think it’s funny that there are great photos in the Amish cookbook? You know since they aren’t allowed to be in pictures?? Anyone?

    This thing on?

Sneaking in the yellow shampoo – genius!

  10. Had ridiculous banana pudding at a restaurant tonight–now the mention of banana bread is truly intriguing. Hand it over!

    Lovely post!

  11. Oh my . . . another Noxzema lover! Seriously, I adore the stuff too. I also have had to buy the tub because the pump is no longer findable, however (pathetic, I know) I kept the pump because a tiny little bit still squirts out and I love to smell it. I think it smelled better than the kind in the tub.

  12. Love the smell of baby shampoo too. I actually use it to clean my makeup brushes so I get to smell it often. 🙂
