!!! Is All About The Blog

This week is the anniversary of my blogging days and I’m all about celebrating. (Don’t forget about tomorrow, people!) I still wanted to participate in Bad Mommy Moments and Momalom’s Intentional Happiness !!! project. And then I remembered…

My handy, dandy little notebook where (when I remember it’s in my purse) I jot down post ideas or phrases my kids have said or husband witticisms…

And then there’s the funny, fun doodles by my kids that surprise me when I open up my handy, dandy notebook that always give me a giggle or at least a smile…

I love my Mickey Mouse pen…

I have a lot of Mickey Mouse pens. I have no idea how many I have. I just know they bring me !!! Here are a couple more I found at the bottom of my purse….

I even have my boys hooked on Disney…

Blogging. Right. Back to blogging. My Coca Cola mouse pad brings a smile and makes me thirsty for my favorite drink (never diet). Classic Coke. Elixir of the gods…

Even my old dinosaur of a computer brings me !!! Especially when I’m sitting here, crafting posts for all of my blogging friends…

And then my eye is drawn to my dear pal, Mickey Mouse, hanging out on the futon. Have I mentioned that I love Walt Disney and all of his creations?…

Focus, Jane, focus. We’re talking blogging here, not Walt Disney World. (Sorry, peeps. But I have a secret trip planned for my kids and I am having a heck of a time keeping it a secret. It’s been Disney on the brain ever since I figured out a way to go.) Maybe if I move him over here, closer to the computer, I can concentrate better. There. That’s perfect….

(Sigh. I’m so excited. I can’t wait to go.)

Because Famiversaries Are An Easy !!!

I’ve made it no secret I was married before. With a beautiful daughter to show for it. I am currently in (and staying in) my second marriage and let me tell you, twice is a charm.

Planning our outdoor wedding, me and my daughter in sun dresses and sandals, the lake in the background, was a family affair. Our siblings and parents all contributed something to make the day special. It was homey. It was casual. It was a very special day.

But my daughter was crushed. She thought she, too, was going on the honeymoon. She was almost 6 yrs. old and I hadn’t considered that she wouldn’t understand that the honeymoon was only for the bride and groom. She cried the day she figured it out. And my soon-to-be-husband became her knight in shining armor that day.

“Mommy and I will go on the first honeymoon right after the wedding. And then the weekend we get back we are taking you on a second honeymoon!”

She was overjoyed. We let her pick the destination. Chattanooga.  (Remember, she was about 6)  She wanted to see Rock City. (She was obsessed with rocks) She wanted to go to the aquarium. We stayed at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo Hotel. It was a fabulous long weekend with lots of laughter and fun.

The following year she was very excited about our (meaning all three of us) upcoming anniversary. “What are we going to do to celebrate?” she asked, eyes shining. So we did something special, just the three of us. We took a long weekend to the beach.

“We’ve now set a precedent,” I said to my husband.

He smiled, “I know. We have to. It’s our famiversary, after all.”

So, in July we celebrate our Famiversary. Sometimes with something big. Sometimes it’s just a small celebration. But it always involves the whole family.

Through the years we’ve added a few more children. But it remains the day we became a family. Our celebrations are still special. And this weekend we spent the day in Atlanta. First the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, then out for sushi.

A fabulous day. A fabulous family. A fabulous past 12 years.

Thank you, my knight in shining armor.

A wizard, wolf and wabbit, playing around in the children’s garden.

My daughter’s reflection in the reflecting pool.

Little brother’s feet were too tired so Big Sis to the rescue. (She was our photographer for the day. Why she always sends me her pics in black and white, I don’t know. She doesn’t like how she looks in color, I guess.)

My little leap day boy, hanging out with Mr. Frog.

Two little rabbits caught in Mr. McGregor’s Garden!

And he’s making me laugh. Again. And again. And yet, again. Must be why I’m still with him.

Jane’s Son Gets Into The !!! Act

“Mom!!! Can I use your camera?”

“Why do you need it?”

“I’m doing a project.”

“What kind of project?”

“Just a project…..”

Looks like my son wants to get into the !!! act…

Just a regular day at Jane’s house…

Little signs of creativity and fun left in every room…

Even in the bathroom!!!

Honestly! I didn’t stage this. This, my dear friends, is my life.

(You can get into the act, too!!! Just check out Momalom and Bad Mommy Moments for more info and inspiration!)

Sometimes It’s The Simple !!! That Warms My Soul

Sometimes it’s the simple !!! that warms my soul. And this past week was no exception!

There is nothing. No thing.  Like a freshly made bed.

Or, making Rocky Road Fudge and there is no one around to lick the bowl but ME!

I always smile when I find evidence of my son’s inherited OCD when it comes to eating candy. He sorts just about everything he gets his hands on. And I eat my candy by color, too!

Who can resist this handsome scooter dude getting ready for the neighborhood 4th of July parade? Not me!!!

!!! (Without the cute little !!! tags)

It’s been quite a week. Wait, make that month. Soccer camp. Dreaded trip to Michigan. Little league baseball games. A teen without a car. Committee meetings (I’m a serial volunteer.)

Kids underfoot. All. The. Time.

And me? Designated driver (or car provider) for the activities of three children. Designated entertainer for all moments in-between.

I love this !!! project. I need this !!! project. But I’m so intimidated by the cute little !!! tags others use for their pics that I just left them off this week. I need to work on crafting my own. Until then, plain pictures must suffice.

My !!! moments this week include:

Hydrangea. They just say summer to me. We have three bushes in our landscape and I’m always finagling to make room for more.

My youngest son’s photo skills…on THIS pic. The one he took just before this one? Of my cleavage. No, you can’t see it. It was deleted immediately.

My youngest son’s self-portrait. Oh, he cracks me up!

My daughter and her best friend, with all their laughter and silliness and fun! Pure !!!

!!! to you all! If I had a group pic of my dear readers, you’d be in this collage, too! Thanks for everything this week. Your love was felt and treasured.

There you have it. My !!! for this week. For more !!! visit Momalom or Bad Mommy Moments.

Everyone Could Use A Little !!!

My friends at Bad Mommy Moments and Momalom have come up with a post idea that just tickles and stirs my soul.

Recognizing the !!! in our lives.

They call it “Intentional Happiness.” I call it brilliant!

The kids are home for the summer. I love my kids. I adore them. But underfoot 24/7? Driving me batty. Thank goodness for soccer camp. Three hours of !!!

I love to cook. I’m not a trained professional. Because my mother hated to cook, I’m self-taught. And because I’m cheap frugal, I don’t have a Kitchen Aid mixer or Cuisinart Food Processor. Sure, they’re on my wish list but who knows when I’ll break down and buy them. And my husband knows this. He knows I hesitate to buy myself anything or splurge on something frivolous. He saw me eyeing this…

…at Williams Sonoma. A salt-cellar. Whenever I use it, I feel like a chef. It feels decadent and fun. And I remember his sweet gesture.

Some call it a bribe. I call it dessert.

But never before dinner.

And dinner with Indiana Jones? The perfect !!!

(Don’t forget about our commencement speech challenge on Friday. To learn more click here!  And I discovered the prize on subWow’s blog Absence of Alternatives. Cool shirt and a great cause! See you Friday!)
